How your dental health help the environment

Each year we celebrate Earth day worldwide by encouraging behaviors that reduce waste and our carbon footprint; but not many have realized that here are many ways to take care of your teeth and stay eco-friendly.

In honor of earth day 2019, we have these tips that could help you all year long and can make a difference.

Turn off the faucet
First of all, remember to turn off the faucet when brushing your teeth. This is often overlooked, and most people just leave the water running while they brush. Truth is you only need it to rinse off the toothpaste.  If you only use water to rinse off, you could save up to 24,000 gallons of water per year.

Recycle your dental products
You can also help by using eco-friendly dental products; you only need to check the label to find out if what you are using of made of recycled materials. It only takes a small effort.  Also remember to recycle you old dental products, there are many programs that take care of it for you.

 Start a healthy diet
Maybe the most important tip is to have a healthier diet, like reducing the times you order take out or keeping a water bottle instead of picking up a soda, this way you are not only making sure your teeth are healthier, you also reduce the amount of trash, such as plastic containers, that you produce per day.

Taking care of the environment is similar to keeping your body healthy, you prepare yourself for the future. Try using these tips for a year, and see how much this helps you reduce your waste.
